Is My Luggage Safe in an IXTAbox?

Is My Luggage Safe in an IXTAbox?

Safety is a very important topic and something everyone wonders, usually right before leaving a box full of skis and sports kit in a hotel car park overnight. There are three parts to the answer.

The box itself

IXTAbox is an all metal skibox/cargo box. The body is aluminium, with stainless steel at the fixation device and the structural hardware, so what you get is a rigid one-piece shell rather than fabric stretched over a frame. Without proper tools there is no quick way in. Getting through the shell takes serious tools and time, which rules out a casual grab-and-go.

Locking the lid

The lid closes with two eccentric latches, and each one can be locked using a padlock. Padlocks come with the box. The Classic ships with a four-digit combination padlock and a key padlock, the Pro with two combination padlocks. If you would rather use your own instead, go for it!.

Locking the box to the car

This is the part people sometimes forget to ask about. With the IXTAbox Pro, or a Classic with the upgraded fixation device, a locking pin goes through from inside the box. Because the pin can only be reached from inside, you can't just unlock the box from outside and lift it off. Taking it off would mean opening the box first. A Classic on the standard fixation device uses the small padlock that comes in the box instead. Either way, getting the box off the tow ball without the key takes proper tools, not a quick pull.

We have designed IXTAbox to be a safe and secure solution, however, we of course still recommend and trust you to be careful of your luggage. Have a great and safe trip!
